Hi Everyone,
Please have a look at the BBC Webwise site for some really useful information about learning how to use email.
See also the video clip below, which shows you how to create a new hotmail account
Click on the link below to watch a video introducing Microsoft Office Word, the application we have been using today to create and save a letter.
Watch as much of this video as you want to. It might get a little bit difficult to follow in some parts, for those of you who are very new to computers, but please don’t worry! Let me know what you think.
Watch the video clip below, reminding you how to create a new folder on the computer.
You should all have created a new folder today to save your work in. Your folder should be in the My Documents folder of the computer you have been using.
For those of you who are new to using a keyboard and mouse, here are some links to BBC Webwise, where you can practice your keyboard and mouse skills.

See you next week.

Hi Everyone!
Welcome to the course website and blog, I hope you find it useful over the next few months.
In week 1 we did some introductions and got to know each other a little bit. It was really helpful for me to find out somethings about you all – why you are doing the course and what you would like to achieve etc. We also discussed the role of computers, and in your groups you thought of a lot of things that computers can do, which was absolutely great.
Click here to download the handout summarising the role of computers, if you missed this session.
Next week we will look at the main parts of a computer, how to log-in and out, the keyboard & mouse, and the Windows Desktop. Next week will be practical and you will be using the computers.
Hope to see you all then.
Zoe
